The Magic of Friends
Where do you turnwhen the well runs dry?
When the page is blank
and you try and try
so stinking hard
only to get stuck? Who will speak up
when you’re overlooked?
When you’re in a fret
and your mind’s unhooked?
Who can fix your
string of rotten luck? Sometimes life seems scary,
mostly when I’m alone.
But when I need a pick me up,
I just pick up my phone
‘cause I have a network,
a circle that never ends.
I found the treasure of family
and know the magic of friends. They’re who I call
when I need a lift.
They’re my saving grace
when my ship’s adrift.
They challenge me.
They’re what makes me strong. They know my strengths
and they fight my fears.
They clean up my wounds
and they wipe my tears.
They all fuel
the fire in my song. Things aren’t always easy.
Sometimes we fight, it’s true.
But we’re a fam’ly, we’ll make up
and look as good as new.
Our bond is unbroken.
It’s steadfast and it extends
beyond all the laughs
and the trust we share.
It’s love: the power of friends. If you truly love me,
you’ll accept them in our life.
Do not even dare to make me choose.
Marrying should not mean I divorce them,
but if it does, this fight is one you’ll lose. My roots are deep,
firmly in the earth.
I am on my way
and I know my worth.
Now I see
complacency’s my foe. If I look back
and the bridge has burned,
then a lesson learned
was a lesson earned.
I’ve the strength
to fully bloom and grow. You took my love for granted,
never met me halfway.
I’m through with making space for you
to meddle and to play.
No time now for sorry.
It’s too late to make amends.
You were the one with the ultimatum,
so I’m choosing my friends.
